Making change happen for nearly forty years
Help us continue making things better for people with dementia and their carers
The Dementia Trust celebrates nearly forty Years of making things better for people LIVING with dementia and their carers.
Starting with research and teaching, the Trust changed the way people think about building design, health and social care policy and improvement in health and social care services.
Looking forward, we will support fundamental change in the way people think about dementia

PLANNING AHEAD
New for Carer’s Rights Day
Launching on the 20th November 2025, Carer’s Rights Day, the Planning Ahead campaign is a new Power of Attorney initiative which encourages all of us to think about the future and to start open, honest conversations with the people we trust.
Planning ahead isn’t only for older people or those living with illness. It’s for everyone. By understanding why a Power of Attorney matters, we can ensure that those closest to us are legally able to support us, if there ever comes a time when we cannot make decisions ourselves.
We invite law firms and solicitors interested in supporting their clients with this new initiative to join as a campaign partner.
Project
The Power of “Power of Attorney”
A Power of Attorney comes in to play at a point in life that can be challenging for all involved.
The document is one way of being legally authorised to manage the money and property or health and welfare of a person when they lose the mental ability to do so personally.
Project
Take me with you
In the early days of the Covid-19 lockdown, Raindog Production and the Dementia Trust brought together a group of writers and actors to collaborate to tell the unfolding story of what was happening to people with dementia in care homes, and how this was affecting their families, and the care home staff. The story is still worth telling today.
