Mackenzie completes the Aberdeen Kiltwalk for The Dementia Trust

On a bright Sunday morning in June, The Dementia Trust trustee Mackenzie Pearce joined thousands of enthusiastic walkers in the North East taking part in the Aberdeen Kiltwalk, completing the 18 mile challenge alonside her family members Sally, Lucy and Tom in support of people living with dementia.

The walk for Mackenize was a personal tribute to her granny, Susan, who was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2023. Having spent much of her life between London and Aberdeen, there was no better place for Mackenzie to take on the challenge. Crossing the finish line at Duthie Park where she holds many happy memories of days out together over the years.

Like so many families, Mackenzie's has experienced first hand the challenges that can accompany a dementia diagnosis. As a trustee of The Dementia Trust, her passion for ensuring dementia support is accessible aligns with the Trust's mission to support practical solutions that make a real difference in everyday life.

Fundraising challenges like the Kiltwalk often begin as a personal commitment, but their impact extends far beyond the person taking part. Every mile walked, donation made and conversation started helps raise awareness of dementia and contributes to building supportive communities for those affected.

A huge thank you to Mackenzie, Sally, Lucy and Tom for walking in support of The Dementia Trust and for raising vital funds to help us move closer to a future where everyone impacted by dementia can access the support they deserve.
